Niagara-on-the-Lake, named "The Prettiest Town in Canada", is a mecca for wine lovers, theatre goers and "those who like to shop". It is the home of the Shaw Festival Theatre and many historic sights. The old town is a photographer's and artist's dream. Walk the tree lined streets and admire the beautiful gardens and historic homes. Visit the historic sights, and of course, the Angel Inn, the oldest pub in Canada.
Natural Wonder. A short drive (15 miles) along the beautiful Niagara Parkway is one of the greatest natural wonders of the world: Niagara Falls. In Niagara Falls there is another set of attractions, including Casino Niagara.
To reach us at Abacot Hall if you are driving:
From Toronto: Follow QEW, exit 38B on Hwy 55 (Niagara Stone Road), follow signs to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Continue on Hwy 55, through the village of Virgil, for about 13km (8 miles). Just past Jackson Triggs Winery you will enter the Historic Old Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. At this point Niagara Stone Road becomes Mississauga Street. Abacot Hall (508 Mississagua Street), is the 4th driveway on your right just past Anne Street. If you reach the Tim Horton's at the stop lights, you have gone one block too far.
From the USA: Enter Canada at the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge onto Highway 405. After about 2 miles take the Stanley Road exit. Follow the signs to Niagara-on-the-Lake along Portage Road to the traffic circle and along the Niagara Parkway. Continue through the Heritage District of Niagara-on-the-Lake and, at the Golf Course, turn left on Mississauga Street (Hwy 55). Go through the first set of stop lights. Go one block and Abacot Hall (508 Mississagua Street) is the first driveway on your left past John Street.
If you are travelling by air:
Niagara-on-the-Lake is 1.5 hours from Toronto International Airport and 45 minutes from Buffalo Airport. Ground transportation is available to the door of Abacot Hall, from both airports, via Niagara Airbus (www.niagaraairbus.com).
